i was born in california
lived all over the state
but when i moved to the city
is when i found my place
you find me in the sunset
the TL & the haight
but when it comes to thursday nite
16th & mission is my fate

now i hear alot of things
about gentrification & change
i see it all around me
& i can feel something thats strange
from the ocean to the air
& the breakers to the bay
the one thing ill make clear
despite anything in the way
spoken word & i are here
& were here to stay

theres rumors of a building
to erect on this spot
but if it interferes with our will
then i say it must stop
ill do whatever i can
& i have this one plan
maybe with my talents
these moments can be kept in these hands

ill make a kickstarter
in order to raise funds for this prize
then ill broadcast free word happenings
every week live
well expand peoples awareness
& who our words reach
so that the love for this city
& its peoples beat
will rescue this art form
from being purged from OUR streets!
